Cobie qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1999 and completed her Master’s Degree in South African and International Tax in 2004, which she obtained cum laude and top of her class.

She has extensive experience in tax which she initially gained whilst holding senior positions at SARS. Cobie’s positions included tax audit manager and technical advisor to the SARS Corporate Tax Centre where she gained vast experience in structured finance and intellectual property tax structures. She headed up the Tax Technical division at the SARS Large Business Centre (LBC) which functioned as an in-house tax advisory/consulting service to LBC tax auditors. Her duties also included serving on SARS tax committees, (i.e. Objections- and Penalty Committees, Tax Appeals Committee and Legislation Committee).

Cobie started her own tax consulting practice in 2008 when she founded the tax division of Intellifin, a corporate finance advisory business. Since she joined Intellifin her exposure to large and complex tax cases, as well as an intimate understanding of the tax administration process, has been applied to the benefit of Intellifin’s clients. She has built up a large and loyal corporate client base comprising many multi-national and listed clients. Cobie is currently an assessor of the Income Tax Court.
